Each year we get together with the Gibbs & the Lashleys right before Halloween. We all eat too much, drink good wine, carve pumpkins, & the kids debut their Halloween Costumes. Previously this annual event took place at the cabin at Crystal Mountain. This was our second year of going to The Quail's Nest at Lake Chelan instead (Check out www.thequailsnest.com - it's my sister's vacation rental!) I'll post many (many!) more pictures of our weekend over the next few days. Despite bad colds, we had a wonderful time with our wonderful family.Joshua and Kaylie are so in love with their Cousin Austin - it's borderline obsession.
Taking the kids for a walk & pull in the wagon - the fall colors were really beautiful.
Three little Hughesies soaking in the tub.

Good times, Great friends, Very very bad Karaoke
Mark's co-workers Malo & Bryan made fun of him for having "girly drinks" when they heard about the Cosmopolitans & Lemon Drops. This banner is their handy work. Doesn't Mark look amused? Thanks, Guys!
Our People: Marty & Lisa Neyman and Mike & Marquell Lewis. The best friends you could ask for.
Limoncello anyone?
The Singing Divas... I will spare you the video of our "Total Eclipse of the Heart" Karaoke. We rock. Hard.

White Chocolate & Sugar Baby - Cutting a rug
Paxton & Kaylie... a little too much sugar you think? They are already making plans for the Senior Prom.

Weather in our front yard
There has been some amazing weather lately... rain, wind, rainbows. I wish we'd taken pictures of the white caps during the storm this week. We lost power for about 7 hours - had high winds, rain, thunder & lightening. We lit a fire, opened a bottle of wine & just watched it go by. It was great.A sunrise from a few weeks ago - that's Mount Rainier in the background.

2007 Oyster Festival
On Saturday Oct. 6th, we went to the Oyster Festival in Shelton with the Neymans. It poured the entire day, but we had a good time. Strangely, none of us ate any oysters. The kids had their faces painted, we watched an Oyster Shucking Contest (I think the winner shucked 20 oysters in about one minute) and mostly just tried to stay dry. The day ended with a (wet) trip to the pumpkin patch, then long soaks in the Neymans hot tub. These guys were amazing! Afterwards, they hand out raw oysters to the crowd. We passed.
(Kaylie & Josh chose not to have their faces painted. I'm pretty sure it was the clown at the face painting station that scared them off.)
Josh wasn't sure what to make of the oyster shucking...
Kaylie's first bus ride ever - it was by far her favorite part of the day.
Sistahs!
